RIPARIAN DREAM for percussion ensemble [digital download]

$11.99

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: MEDIUM

PERSONNEL: 7-8 minimum

INSTRUMENTATION: Crotales* / Wind Chimes, Marimba (4.3 octave), Vibraphone, Electric Guitar*, Suspended Cymbal / Zil-Bel*, Djembe / Rain Stick, Roto-Toms* / Ocean Drum, and four Timpani (equipment notes for flexible instrumentation are included with the piece).

The term riparian refers to an ecosystem adjacent to flowing water. Many special forms of wildlife make their home in this type of environment. This piece is meant to evoke the journey of a clear, coursing stream and the ecosystems it creates and supports as it etches its path into forested land over hundreds of thousands of years. It invites the audience to adventure into the richness of a lush, green, dreamlike riparian environment to experience its natural splendor. The repeating four-note motives in the marimba and vibraphone parts emphasize the steady flow of the stream, while other instruments represent the flora, fauna, boulders, and rocks that make their home by the water. Particular riparian environments that inspired this piece include those explored by the composer in various locations throughout eastern Kentucky, western Virginia, and West Virginia.

THIS PACKAGE INCLUDES:

  • score + parts pdf

  • mp3 audio file of the piece
