PROGRAM NOTES: Water Scenes is an Orff-ensemble interpretation of some themes common to my piece for percussion ensemble, Riparian Dream, and my marimba solo Riparian Sketches. It features a repeating ostinato meant to convey the coursing of a stream through the forest over thousands of years. The other instruments represent other forest "characters" such as trees, moss, ferns, boulders, and other wildlife one might find next to a stream.
